Refrigerant Gas an that

Oscar fabricant 4 May 2005 19:07:10
I understand it is possible to buy refrigerant Gas in small cans to top
up air conditioning in cars. I am not sure whether it works ? Would
appreciate any advice from someone who has used it or knows more about
it. Where can it be bought from and in what quantities ? Are there any
special tools required to top up a Vauxhall Vectra ?

There was a thread way down there -V- somewhere. IIRC the general conclusion
was that it wasn't a good idea or even practical

I bought an "air con service kit" from ebay recenlty for about £40 - worked
great on my Volvo 850 - AC now works fine.
Kit came with hose, leak detector, refrigerant and lubricant oil.

Search for "R134a" on ebay and you'll find them.

Alan.

Hi Oscar

Let me know how you get on, I've got a Vauxhall Calibra with non-functioning
AC so I would be keen to know how you get on.

Only about £60 to get it regassed including vaccing down.
Gas needs to be weighed because an accurate gas amount will make it work
efficiently.

Depending on how old your Calibra is you may need R12...in which case you
need to find a lot of money to convert to R134a!

'96....I can probably check the specs and see what it is, if it's R12 I'll
stick with the windows/sunroof....
