Xantia indicators constantly on

Well_i_Wonder 14 April 2005 21:40:36
 Hi,

I have a problem with a Xantia 2.0l petrol, 'M' reg,

When the remote keyfob button is pressed the indicators come on and stay on,
not flashing but on permanently. The engine starts as usual but the
indicators remain on continuously.

The only solution is to keep pressing the keyfob button on and off and
eventually the indicators go off.

Have tried disconntecting the battery but it doesn't help. And the same
problem is found when using the key in the door rather than pressing the
button.

Any suggestions appreciated!

W.

A dealer will tell you there is a fault with the alarm and he can fit a new
one for about £400.
There is a switch under the bonnet, by the windscreen wiper motor. Operated
by the ignition key.
Switch it off.
Makro do a cheap and cheerful alarm for £20 plus. EasyFit. Has remote key
fob and does all the usual, based on voltage drop and impact.

The switch only turns off the siren, it doesn't disable the alarm.

There's a fuse (in the box under/by the steering wheel) that can be removed
to do this.
