what is this car please?

H 7 May 2005 17:01:55
I have seen several examples of this car on the road over the last year or
so. It appears to be a small 2-seater, often in pale blue although I've seen
other colours, and with a white roof that *looks* as if it probably comes
off or drops down.

The registrations are always current so it isn't a 'classic' car, but has a
real 'retro' feel to it. The back of the car has a small boot which does an
old-fashioned slope rather than an angular edge, and it has round tail
lights.

I'm sure I've seen it with white-wall tyres, and certainly with shiny chrome
hub caps.

I have never got close enough to one on the motorway to read the name on
front or back.

What is it? Anyone?

Thanks, Hamish

Thanks Michael, yep that's the one.

I was right about the roof, but bloody hell, 2+2?? What, midgets? And from
the picture I now know why I thought I'd seen whitewall tyres.

Wow, made by Nissan! Fiendishly clever these Japanese, aren't they, we'll
have to watch them...

Based on the previous shape Micra , so rear seating room was always going to
be limited.

Quite nice little cars IMO and they hold their value exceptionally well
despite only being grey imports

I know what you mean, having lived in East Germany. But the resemblance is
only passing - this Figaro is COOL.

Ah, there's one of those at uni. I've always wondered what it was. It
looks a lot like some of the kit cars. I'm really glad I know now cos
it was bugging me a bit.

I'm guessing its a Nissan Figaro - Micra based car driven by the likes of
Vanessa Feltz.

There is a car of very similar appearance for sale at a garage just down the
road from me. However, it would appear to have a Hyundai badge on the bonnet
(the garage itself is a Hyundai dealership). No idea what model name it has.
