Nissan Primera computer

 I have a Nissan Primera SLX which has a computer operated by the right wiper
stalk, it has positions for outside temperature, clock and others [mpg/trip]
that I don't know how to set.
The manual doesn't make sense either--anyone know how this works?

 My 97 SLX has 3 display items, Outside Temperature (comes on automatically
if it's freezing)/Time/Date­. Each button press cycles round the 3 displays.
Anything else like mpg was an optional extra at purchase time I believe.
