omvl wiring

Bob 26 April 2005 00:52:35
just bought a second hand kit for my 110v8 land rover. kit includes a omvl
change over switch circa 2001, pet/middle(auto?)/gas with level indicator. a
loom appears from the back with several wires, does anyone have a wiring
diagram. it is an open loop system with omvl r90/e vapouriser.

Try Chris Perfect. Chances are it's one of his kits... has it got an orange
gadget with it, with 2 large pipe connections at the bottom and a round bit
with a small pipe connection threaded into the top?

If it's for a carb engine, then the middle switch position will be "no
fuel". The normal drill is for the petrol position to energise a petrol
cutoff solenoid, resulting in petrol flow to the carbs, and the gas position
to energise the gas system. The middle position switches off the petrol but
doesn't switch on the gas, and lets you run the petrol out of the carbs. If
you don't do that, it runs very rich when you change over.

The "no fuel" position is also handy if you've got the engine flooded :-)
