Timing Chain

Fubar 7 May 2005 06:39:02
V-6 has a timing Chain.. it is a real bugger to change while the engine is
in the car, but it is doable. Usually the little rubber covered aluminum
tensioners give way and the belt becomes slack. I changed mine out at about
150 K
88 GT
175 K still running strong
White Needs new paint and a Caddy Conversion from Ed Parks
Some MR. Mikes Leather seat covers would be nice too!!

The little rubber coated aluminum thing isn't a tensioner,
it's a dampener to keep the chain from setting up a standing
harmonic. Even when they wear out it doesn't really affect
much. The slack in the chain is due to link wear.
