identity of rear-engine sports car from seventies

Persnickety Tim 9 May 2005 06:55:10
On a visit to England in the 1970's, I saw a strange sports car in a
[French?] dealership. Unfortunately, it was Sunday, and the dealership
was closed, so I only got to look at it through the windows. I
couldn't make out the nameplate at all.. This two-door car appeared to
be rear-engined, and sat three abreast in bucket seats, with the
transmission hump separating the driver from the two passengers. The
rear bulkhead [firewall?] was immediately behind the As you would
expect, the car was quite wide, but not very long at all, about the
proportions of a postage stamp. It was low and rather wedge-shaped.
Is there anyone here who might know what it could have been? I have
been curious ever since.

TIA, Tim
