As far as searching for cars that are sold by private parties as> opposed to dealers, the best source is www.craigslist.com

You can always ask the private party whether the car's been salvaged>or had any other title issues. If they say "yes", you can move on to>the next car. If they say "no", you can verify whether it's true with>Carfax.com. It's not like you need to sift through a large volume of>decent used cars and want an automated way of reducing this volume.
