Honda Prelude or Toyota Celica?

RickyC 23 March 2005 21:28:52

I'm looking for another car. I think I've narrowed the choice down to
a Honda Prelude or a Toyota Celica. I've owned a Prelude before but
not a Celica. I was happy with the Prelude but I'm attracted by the
Celica's hatch back; it's the one feature I missed on my Prelude. I
have no experience of Celicas. Anyone have any preferences or insights
that might help me decide?

Thank you.

PS - I forgot to mention, I'm planning to buy something that's about
ten years old.

RickyC,
Honda and Toyota are two excellent car companies that make excellent cars.
Therefore--you could buy either one of them and should be happy--buy the
one that is most appealing to you. Since it's an older car--make sure that
the body and engine are in excellent condition. Unless you are a mechanic,
take the vehicle to your favorite mechanic and have him or her check it
for you. I know from experience that you can find out a lot of information
about a car by hooking it up to a Diagnostic Computerized Engine Tester.
Also, ask the mechanic to determine whether or not it has a bad head
gasket--it cost lots of money--usually over $500.00 to replace one. That's
why some people sell older cars that appear to be in great condition.

Thanks for the input. Some good points there.

I'd still be very interested to hear from anyone who has tried both
cars and can share any impressions they have of each, and how the two
cars compare with each other.

Thanks

RickyC

I agree with you. There is a newsgroup relalted to Honda cars and probably
one related to Toyota cars--you might consider subscribing to those two
group. Also, once you find a car--run a car fax report--I think that is
what it is called.
