Wait till fall to change tranny fluid?

Nicolaas 18 April 2005 23:07:47
I have thinking of having the transmission fluid changed to a synthetic
fluid in my 05 OBW because of the rough tranny in the morning. Should I wait
until the cold weather comes this fall?
I complain and complain to my dealer about the transmission. They tested it
and said it is ok. But then again...CAPITAL SUBARU IN PAWTUCKET, RI SUCKS!!!

Hi,

I can't speak to your other problems, but transmission failure due to
heat is far more common than cold. I'd be inclined to go ahead and
change now...

I agree with Rick and do it now. I came in late on this thread and
assume you have an AT? If a manual I would rethink synthetic as the
best choice. ed

 Thanks, yes, it's an automatic.
What's a fair price for a synthetic tranny fluid change?

It's pretty easy if you do a flush yourself. Google the instrux in this
group, about a year ago. Ten quarts of fluid, a bucket, some cheap hose and
a clamp. I'm not a mechanic, don't own much in the way of tools, but it was
easy.
