anyone got one?

Need the throttle bell crank for a GM six from a 65 or 66. That is the
twisty rod that bolts to the engine and connects the rod from the gas
pedal thru to the carb. I also need the kick down cable, but that isn't
important right now. Anyone have a junk 65/66 with this part? Thanks
KM

 Kelly,

If I remember correctly, the '65 and '66 models used a cable for the
throttle and kickdown.

When I pulled that engine from the chassis (it did not have a
body...just the rolling chassis with engine/trans) the cable and
suspended gas pedal were not with it.

 speaking of which...

I need the shift rod from the steering column to the shifter for an
Avanti II....all it does is provide the neutral safety switch and
column lock mechanism with the position of the shifter, but I bent the
crap out of mine while re-installing the engine last weekend.

You'd think it would be easy enough to bend it back...but that sucker
is stout..plus, it has a couple bends in it and it's almost impossible
to bend it back to original shape (that means I already tried). :)

Anyone (Lee?) got one of these laying around from one of their "parts
cars"? I guess I could look up the part number and try to chase down a
new one...but what's the fun in THAT??

Bob

I'll pull the shop manual out again. Might have to go down to the local
speed shop and talk. I'm sure they got something. On another note, the
special tranny cross member seems to fit between the frame rails to far
back. Did the frame rail distance change between '61 and '65. I'm just
laying it on the flat of the rail and pushing it forward until it
wedges between the diminishing distance between the vertical part of
the rails. And Lee, you never sent me a bill. I know shipping that
sucker was a lot. Whats I owe ya? KM

Is this a 66 Daytona? I have one sitting out back that I have torn
apart...including the tranny crossmember. It was a McKinnon V8 with
automatic but the trans is gone so I'm not sure what kindf they used.
Powerglide I would imagine...but I can measure the crossmember for you
and let you know the dimensions if that would help!

Bigbob, Stude used the Borg Warner tranny till the bitter end. And
Avanti used it until 71 or so??

All the Avanti and Avanti II's I have parted have been pre-locking
column, Bob. Sure wish I could help you out with it.

On the late Larks, that crossmember slides forward about as far as it
can. I do not know of any change in the frame rail width on the '61
vs the '65/'66. It was not a wedge fit but it was not far from being
tight.

You don't owe me a thing for it. I meant to send it with the engine
and trans.
