Thinking of Selling My 55 Prez

Ads 27 April 2005 03:20:34
I'm thinking of selling my 55 President State Hardtop and I'm looking for
advice on a reasonable asking price. It's a 259 automatic with power
steering & oil filter. It also has the 8 tube radio(which needs a
vibrator)and a climatizer. The car is an older restoration which drives
extremely well. Like other Studes, it does leak a bit of oil and it is a
bit tempermental when it hasn't been driven for a while. Here are some
pictures: http://community.webshots.com/album/329849763vUgiTZ
Hopefully this link works.

The reason I'm selling the car is because it's time for a change. I've had
the car since 1991 and would like to try something new. Unfortunately, I
only have space for one toy at a time.

Any input would be greatly appreciated..

Tony

Tony - Nice car! Others more knowledgeable will know how much to ask...but
if you go to antiqueautomobileradio.com (whew!) they might have the
vibrator you need. (Or Bobbie's Love Shack <G>) Ebay's probably your
best bet.

I assume you've already tried dropping the vibrator onto a hard floor?
(seriously.)

Pop a set of whitewall on it, list it on ebay with say a 10-12K reserve.

 Hi Tony;
Nice looking car. Looks like Ontario plates; where are you located? I'm in
Belleville.

I'd totally agree with installing NEW Wide-Whites.. (Diamondback
Classics). They will offset the white roof, and blend the car nicely.

The next thing is to spend an entire weekend detailing the engine
compartment. Take one widget off at a time, and clean/derust and paint
it. Rewrap the wiring harness.

Have the wife/kid/co-worker clean the interior, and polish the dash bits
(0000 steel wool and chrome polish). Get out the camel-hair (paint)
brush, and toothbrushes.

I'd say that alone would be worth $2K over it's present (visual) condition.

Thanks John, That's the neighbourhood I was thinking as well and you
validated it.

Ray, you're right. It does need a really good cleaning to bring it up
