 No one else has mentioned it yet, so I will.

Appears MG-Rover of England has nearly gone down the slippery slope of
insolvency, taking 5,000 jobs with it. Seems to be some parallels to
Studebaker's darkest days in the 1950's....Its just before a general
election in Britain; not unlike 1956 when the Eisenhower administration
didn't want to see Studebaker go under in an election year. Wonder if Tony
Blair can pull a miraculous merger out of the hat just in time like
Eisenhower did with some guaranteed government contracts to save it.
MG-Rover is losing as much money in one month as Studebaker did in its worst
year.....

R.I.P. Austin, Morris, Wolseley, Riley, Standard, Triumph, MG, Rover,
Leyland.....
