OK, it's a Champ, but it has dual carbs and a split exhaust. I don't
think it'll make the 13K BIN though.

 And an aluminum head...
Dig that high tech 6v battery... Half of the 12v kind..
And I like the way he took the pic with the engine running...

As long as you don't run them dead. If you do, they won't recharge
correctly on the alternator and it shortens the life a bunch.

I have one in my 36 Packard 120 and it really turns that 282 straight 8
over. I have had no problems with it, seems much better than the standard
batteries I had been using. Of course in that car it is hidden under the
seat, here it looks really odd.

Thats strange, for one dumb and two not so dumb reasons (looong periods
of sitting)....my 6 volt Optima has been dead three times. Dead enough
that it wouldn't even cause a spark when shorted. But all three times
it's come back and starts fine.
It'll be at the Orpan car show Saturday with the same battery in it.
Though it may not be as clean as I'd like!
It does still have a generator in it for what ever reason that may
make.

Good point, it might charge on a generator. On a alternator it trys to
charge with 35-60 amps and that does not work well. When mine went dead,
they told me to charge it a 20 amps for a hour , than 6 amps for 12
hours. (If I recall correctly)

Just a tip on the Optima for those worried about authenticity. At the
Portland swap meet this weekend a vendor had battery cases designed to
hold the Optima, but look exactly like OEM style batteries. Pretty cool.

I think that the filters have very poor filtration if enough air gets
through
to get full power from the engine.
An airbox with a hose and remote standard flter would be my choice.

I installed a 6volt Optima (in one of those battery look-alike cases) in my
'37 Studebaker Dictator & it turns over the '49 Commander Six just great.
Those battery boxes come in plastic or original style tar top (for showing).
Just a thought but I did replace the braided battery strap when installing
the Optima.

The 12V Optima is also what I use in my rod & it turns over the hemi engine
very easily everytime.
