2001 IS300 Oil Filter Change

LexusX3 6 April 2005 00:19:24
Just purchased a used IS300 with 88K miles. Nice condition, but I
like to do all my own maintenance. I was unable to get the oil filter
off, it was completely unaccessable from both the top and bottom of
the vehicle, even after removing the covers from the underside of the
vehicle. Does Lexus use a special tool for this job? Any comments
would be appreciated.

Thanks! :(

Thanks! :(

It should be reacheable from the engine bay on the driver's side. My
Supra has the same engine and that's how I have to access it. It
should be right under your intake plenum.

The dip stick tube for the transmission is in the way according to the folks
over on IS300.net and they advise unbolting the top anchor and moving it
slightly out of the way to allow access. Mine's a manual so there's not dip
stick tube to contend with. It's still pretty tight in there though.
