69 Coupe deville transmission

M vd Zeijden 25 April 2005 15:46:44
 Hi,
I hope this is the right place for my question.

My Cadillac Coupe Deville 1969 is leaking oil from a part inserted in the
gearbox. If you look at the drivers side of the gearbox there is an
electrical thingy. It feels loose (or broken) and the oil is leaking
through/from it.

What is this electrical thingy... a sensor ? a switch ? Can it be repaired?
where can I order a new one????

I´m from The Netherlands, therefore my english might not be perfect, but I
hope I described the problem sufficient.

Thanks
Martin

That is the downshift solenoid connector it is cheap and easy to replace
just drop the pan and replace the connector and then might as well replace
the filter while you have the pan off.
Get a new connector and a trans pan gasket and 4 or 5 quarts of trans fluid
first.
