Isn't the center bottom dial in the dash cluster oval in a '29 and> round in a '30?

After Mar of 30. The dash cluster became round. Henry had to use up to
old parts.

 The simplest way to visually distinguish a 28 / 29 from a 30 / 31 is the
shape of the cowl sides in front of the doors. The 28 and 29 have narrower
cowl that meets the door posts with an almost squarish bead running from the
lower edge of the windhshield to the bottom of the cowl sides in a graceful
curve to the front of the vehicle. The 30 and 31 A's have a slightly wider
cowl that meets the door posts in a very smooth flow, much like a 32 Ford
and the squarish bead is not there.

The A was one of the first old cars that the home restorer was offered a
wealth of info and repro parts and since a lot of the bolt on items
interchanged from 28 thru 31 it isn't unusualy to find a car or truck with
mixed year parts installed. A favorite swap was to use the 29 inch wheels
in place of the 28's as the slightly taller tire made the car a little bit
faster.

Hope this helps you.

Mike

My dad has given me his supposedly 1929 Model A pickup. I have some
question as to weather it is actually a 1929 or 1930 model. Can someone
help me determine what model year it actually is? Dad said that some parts
(headlights) are from a model A. The color is red, and looking inside the
dash and other places, it appears to have originally been red. That would
make it a post September 1930 model. The speedometer has a white pointer,
which indicates a 1930 model (from what I've been able to find out). Any
one got any suggestions? I bought all the materials to replace the 1929 top
(which was distroyed my the moving company when I had it shipped out west),
but don't dare start the project until I can verify the year.
Thanks
