oil leak/hose question

Redlocks 11 April 2005 00:21:21
Forgive my ignorance, but I have noticed that oil has been leaking from the
top half of the engine on my 1987 T & C wagon. Is there a gasket that I
should conside replacing?

Also, I noticed a hose about 6 or 7 inches long that runs from the engine
to the air filter 'assembly'. Could someone tell me the name of the hose
and whether or not it could be contributing to the oil leak problem?

Thanks.

John

I would have to guess that you have the 3.3 liter engine and the hose you
are probably referring to is the breather hose for the air cleaner. without
looking at the oil leak I will say the most common thing to leak on that
engine is the valve cover gasket.
Always state as much information as possible when you are asking
questions.....such as the engine!!

Thanks. The engine has a 4 cylinders. According to the manual it
would be either be 2.2 or 2.5 liters. I'm not sure which. Should I assume a
worn/defective valve cover gasket is still the most likely prolem?

that would be the same hose and the gasket and end seals leak alot on those,
if im not mistaken I believe there may have been a recall on that year for
the valve cover
