| VSS/RPM sensor location? Dave Horoschak 07:50:15 |
| | Can anyone point me in the direction of the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) or transmission RPM sensor on a 2000 A6 4.2? I'm trying to add an auxiliary odometer and having trouble finding it. A picture would be helpful as well.
Alternatively, if there's an easy place to pick it up in the wiring harness, that would work as well.
Thanks. - Dave

| Audi TT 2002 Quattro 1.8 (180) Pagambar 19:47:39 |
| | I need some help. I just bought (3 weeks ago) this car and it keeps having to go b ack to the garage for various problems. Fuel Gauge/Engine Management/ EPS - they hae changed the pod but it seems like they have replaced the windscreen wiper with an older model.
I've driven a few other cars loaned from the garage so I cannot remember if this one had the extra buttons on it to check fuel consumption etc. all it has is the speed of intermittent wiper!
By pressing the console buttons they only tell me when a new service is due (dropped from 9300 mile to 800 miles in 6 hours). I'm sure I remember there was more it did? Am I confused with a different model?

| audi 100 spluttering when hot Paul McMillen 16:39:30 |
| | Hi,
Have a '92 audi 100 2.0E (AAD engine) which has been losing power over the last few months. When cold, runs fine, but when hot, at idle, the revs creep up to about 1200 RPM - if the accelerator is pressed at all, the engine splutters and tries to stall. I've also noticed that the plugs and the exhaust are very sooty. I'm waiting on an oxygen sensor arriving to try that but I have been told that a small sensor/valve on a rubber mount close to the metering head gives trouble. The valve has Pierburg 048 133 517 written on it - don't have a clue what it is.
Anyone with any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Paul

| Audi Extended Warranty Tockeyhockey@Gmail.Com 04:58:20 |
| | Here's the deal -- I have a 2002 A4 Avant, 5 speed, 1.8t. My manufacturer warranty has ended and I didn't extend it. The car only has about 34k on it.
Warrantydirect.com is offering bumper to bumper warranty up to 4 years or 80k for $2600 and a $100 per incident deductable.
Do you think that this is a good deal? Are there better options out there that I'm not aware of?

| 2001 A4 1.8.T sludge problem Guest 23:29:49 |
| | A week ago the oil pressure warning light in my 2001 A4 1.8T came on. I took it to the dealership and they found out that the screen leading up to the oil pump was totally clogged. The repair cost me $2600. The dealership tried to get the repair covered by Audi, who refused, saying I had missed a service. In reality, after the warranty period got over, I have got oil changes done every 6000 miles. I had the 60K and 80K services done, but no full service at 70K (an oil change at 66K, and another at 72K).
I had thought of following up with Audi after I got the car back. After I got the car back, the oil pressure light came on again the very next day - after I had driven the car for only 25 miles more. So, now the car is back at the dealership and they are trying to figure out what's wrong.
What are my options at this point? For the 2001 year, Audi recommended oil changes every 10K. I got ALL oil changes and services done at an authorized dealership.
Will these guys be able to figure out whether there's permanent engine damage? The next thing they plan to look at is the oil pump, which itself might have congestion.
Thanks a lot.

| Daytime Running Lights on a US 2004 S4 Guest 04:44:29 |
| | Hello,
I am living in Quebec, Canada and am about to purchase a US 2004 S4. However, one of our safety requirements is to have daytime running lights turned on. I read somewhere that this is an option in the computer that I can interface with the VAG-COM software, but my dealer's service man said that it is NOT possible to turn daytime running lights on.
I know that subscriber Rob has said that it exists and I desperately want to believe him, but if someone (including you Rob) could write back and inform me exactly where in the computer options I am to find this option, I would immensly appreciate it. The car is being held until Friday morning for me, so I need an answer ASAP (please).
Thanks to all who respond.
Niraj.

| Re: About an A/C leak that is hard to find. (Jeez, the evaporator core?) Regal53 21:19:57 |
| | I have put green neon dye in cars with leaky evaporators: You will see the green stuff mixed in with the drain water while running the A/C at max. I have replaced evaporators that had leaky o-rings, but that is the best way to do it. If you cant see the dye, then you need to confirm lhe leak by using an electronic beeper leak detector which can detect freon parts per million. "Thomas G. | y2k A6 2.7T Burbletrack 03:22:20 |
| | Hi,
I own a 2000 A6 2.7T which I've had for 9 months now. Really awesome car to drive!
Having only a couple of minor problems.
1) LCD Display in instrument cluster has dead pixels and is at times unreadable. Got a quote from Audi dealership for replacement of the entire instrument cluster as they claim that the eintire cluster has to be replaced. They also claim that the cluster is coded to the car and can only be replaced by a new one. This comes to about US$1200 !
Anyone know of a cheaper alternative?
Car is also somewhat underpowered at times.
any advice?

| Auto gearbox problem? - Audi 100 Type 44 1984 Chris G. 13:30:48 |
| | Hey group
So it's time for me to pick your brains again
Our beloved 100 has just transported us 2000km across europe in 6 days without missing a beat, mostly with speeds between 140 & 160 km/h on the motorways but also some very hot summer traffic-jams too. No problems whatsoever.
Strange that, as soon as we get home, the auto 'box starts getting a little weird; when changing from 1st to 2nd, it tends to slur a little, as if it's attempting to get power through but not really succeding - the closest thing I can think of to describe it is that it feels like I'm feathering the clutch in a manual car...
As the motor warms up the problem seems to go away - sometimes totally, sometimes so that it's only noticeable by looking at the rev-counter.
The takeoff from idle and change from 2nd to 3rd give no problems whatsoever, and we can't seems to reproduce it when shifting manually.
Any ideas?
Cheers, Chris : )
