 I know this is OT and not the correct group but.

If the lock is software set and not driven by the game, then you may have
more 'turn' left in the wheel, for example, the lock come on to soon and
mean you cannot get around a corner.

It needs to be driven by the game, its like having a rumble pack the works
with a old Sega Maga Drive but it only rumbles when you hit fire 3 times in
a row, eg not when they games tells it to.

On a PC at least the wheel is calibrated so that max left involves turning
the wheel as far as it can go left, so the game is independent of the
hardware.

Decent sims also allow you to change the steering ratio as it tends to be a
compromise for 180 degree wheels where a flick of the wheel will apply full
lock.
