Selespeed

 Here's my dilemma. I'm thinking of buying a GT and my preference would be a
manual. Problem is, my wife can only drive an auto. My question is, is
Selespeed a good system? I like to drive my cars quite hard but have found
semi-automatic systems in other makes to be a hindrance rather than a help
as they are unresponsive and clunky. What is Selespeed like? Do I tell my
wife to learn to drive properly (!) or keep the peace and go for
Selespeed?!!

I have just bought a 147 Selespeed to replace my 166 Sportstronic.

The first thing that you have to accept is that, even when in gear, it will
roll back on inclines. Also, you need to apply the throttle to move the
car, there is no creep.

The gap between 1st and 2nd is quite pronounced, although the other changes
are fairly good. Kickdown works well in City mode.

I am not ecstatic about it, but no doubt will learn to live with it.
