| Scratches on rear plastic bumper Judy M 20:50:41 |
| | Greetings,
The bumper on my 2003 TL-S was scratched recently. It's plastic, of course, and I'm somewhat confused as to how to go about touching it up. Any suggestions? I already have the correct paint from the dealership, but it seems to me there should be some type of preparation done.
I'd appreciate your input.
Thank you.

| 270 HP vs. 258 HP? Jim Tiberio 23:04:15 |
| | Hi all, I picked up my '06 TL last week and have a question that wasn't answered to my satisfaction by the sales guy. Why was 2005 TL rated at 270HP while the '06 is rated at 258HP? The dealer says they implemented a new policy that all car companies will have to adhere to at some point when disclosing HP, he didn't explaim the policy. Are they rating it from a point other than the crank? Did they ever measure from the crank. I assume more than 12 HP would be lost in the drive train.

| '97 Integra Thermal Switch and Fan Relay Need To Know 10:21:22 |
| | The car (97 Integra, 2Dr) runs fine, except that when I pulled into the garage the temp gauge shot up to 3/4. Found some cooling steam hissing out. And the fan motors (both radiator and AC) are not running. Following had been tried: 1. Turned on A/C - both above fans ran, so that proved a. In dash fuse is good. b. Relays are working. So the most likely culprit is the thermal switch (cooling temperature sensor, near the lower coolant hose.
The questions is that I cannot disengage the connector of this sensor. It has a colorless plastic cap, and I don't see any way to remove (disengage) it to check it by ground the green wire. How to take the connector apart?
And then, If I know the location of the fan relay, I can check that too instead of at the ECT switch above. Where is this relay? Is it under the dash, or is it under the hood?
Thanks..
And, to Tegger - Thanks to the excellent FAQ. However, I need more info on reading the REMCO diagnostic under the cooling section. I am using XP-with IE 6.0, but I see all kinds of text (and codes) all over the screen. Does it require Java, VM, javascript, activeX, etc, turned on, or...
Thanks.

| Yikes!!! Stuck in Park - Brake Lights Not Working - More Troubles! DownTurn 03:38:02 |
| | Hi all,
I am having major troubles with my 90 Acura Legend LS (has about 180,000 miles on it).
1) Transmission stuck in Park: I start the engine and then can't move the automatic transmission out of Park. I press the brakes down fully, press the silver "trigger" on the gear shift lever, try to press in the button on the left side of the gear shift lever, and still can't get it out of Park.
The steering wheel ISN'T locked, meaning once I start the engine, I can turn the steering wheel and then the tires from side to side. Just the transmission is stuck in park.
I CAN move the gear shift lever if (before I start the engine) I put the key in the transmission release slot that is immediately behind the gear shift lever, put it into neutral, tkae the key out of the slot and then start the engine while in neutral.
I can't say exactly when this started. I loaned my car to my dad for about 6 weeks, and just got it back from him. He said that the problem developed "sometime" in those 6 weeks. I hadn't had this problem before loaning it to my dad.
Before that, I had just taken it into a service shop to have an oil change / 15,000 mile tune up (replace / fill transmission and other fluids). So it couldn't be more than a couple hundred miles since the last time the Automatic Transmission Fluid was changed / filled.
2) Rear Brake Lights / Reverse Lights Not Working:
Also sometime while my dad had the car, the rear tail lights / brake lights / reverse lights stopped working. The front lights and turn signals seem to be okay.
I tried changing around the fuses and that didn't make a difference. I have also had some weired electrical stuff in the past (bizzare static from the radio, starter engine not cranking the first time you turn the key). Plus my dad said that he had to disconnect the battery over night otherwise it would drain and be hard to start in the morning (I think my dad might have disconnected the battery simply because he is almost 80 and likes to tinker with stuff, since I have noticed this at all in the last few days since he returned the car to me).
One other thing happened while my dad had the car. When he was parked at the supermarket, somebody hit the car just behind the front wheel well / driver side door. It must have been low speed, because it is a wide dent (about 16 inches) but very shallow. The front of the rubber trim on the drivers side is now loose. But I don't think that this could have caused any of the above problems, could it?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. ANY HELP you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark

| Parking Brake Indicator Tony C 01:23:27 |
| | Hey folks,
I was wondering if any of you could help me out with my question. I have 2002 Acura TL Type S with about 90K miles on it. Just recently, my parking brake indicator on my dash stays on after I have released the parking brake. It stays on for a bit but eventually it turns off. Anyone know the cause of this or have ideas? I don't want to take it to the dealership and have them inspect it for a chunk of change if its something small I can fix myself.
Thanks.

Not as pretty as the NSX...
The 408 was all-wheel drive, I'll grant you, but I always thought that> the chassis layout & design and even the somewhat wacky body styling> were way too close to being an NSX prototype for it to be entirely> coincidental.
I find many mid-engine "supercar" designs look similar.
My suspicion is that Honda used a modification of at least one existing >>Honda chassis to make the NSX.> I wouldn't have thought it would make any sense to recast an existing> steel chassis in aluminum. You can't use steel and aluminum the same> way. Maybe they did just that? Who knows?
I didn't know the NSX had an aluminum chassis. From what I understand, a switch from steel to aluminum would not be practical. You're better off to design in aluminum from scratch. Sounds like Honda really did make a unique platform for the NSX.

Any idea on the cost of the various options? I likely > won't do the work myself, whatever it is so it will be shop time.> Thanks in advance guys.... TeGGeR's response is good, especially in your situation, but when my daughter's '93 Accord had a flashing oil light (owner's manual says "excessive fluctuation in pressure") I gave it some thought. TeGGeR's way is the most certain to lead to a proper fix, but....
The most common cause of oil light coming on is failure of the oil pressure sender. Right now you are in a quandry because you don't know if the sender is telling you wrong or if the oil pressure really is too low. What I elected to do was replace the sender so I could assume it was now getting correct readings and then seeing whether the light came on. I was in luck - it was only the sender.
In any event, don't drive the car anywhere until this is sorted out one way or the other. You indicate it will be done at a shop, so my post is more for the benefit of others - the shop will do it the right way because they'd be crazy not to. Just don't drive it there. Having it towed to the shop is worth it for this indication, no matter that the odds are in your favor.
Mike

1998 Acura CL 2.3 crank pulley vibration BarryC 06:50:09 |
| | Help! Have 130,000 miles on my 2.3 CL. Replaced timing belt at 90,000 miles. Recently the engine has been vibrating at stoplights while in gear (automatic). Apply brakes and vibration goes away. Took to Acura and they advise crank pulley is vibrating side to side. Also stated it has too much end play in crank shaft. They advise they will replace crank pulley first to see if corrects problem. Front motor mount is fine. Rear motor mount has small tear but mechanic says not the problem. Whats the chances this will turn into a major repair as opposed to just the crank pulley. Any similar experience out there or good advice? Thanks for any comment. |

| Oil Leak in 95 Integra LS - Leaks close to front passenger tire Guest 05:56:06 |
| | I am not an auto expert.
My 95 Integra LS stick shift leaks close to the passenger side front tire. I poured 10W-30 and it is all seeped out. I can't also switch gears in my manual car, when the car is turned on. I can switch gears, when the car is turned off only.
Any idea on:
1) Where the leak could be? 2) What has to be fixed to stop the leak? 3) Tentative cost of getting it fixed by an auto technician? 4) Do other types of oil additives stop leaks?
