| Again, how do I remove the rear seat? Al Slocumb 06:10:42 |
| | How do I remove the rear seat on my 2005 RSX Type S? A clip seams to be holding it down.... I mean remove the bottom part IE: the part that your butt contacts to see if my GPS slid under it. I realize it is highly unlikely that it did but I still need to check.
Thanx to you that can answer this

| frequent headlight bulb replacements Bucky 03:33:33 |
| | My friend's 2002 RSX has had quite a few burnt out bulbs in the past year. First, the right blub died after about 3-4 years. Next, the left bulb died after a couple months afterwards. Then the right bulb died again after less than 1 year (I think it was a generic non-Acura bulb).
Does 3-4 years seem kind of short for a factory bulb lifetime? I definitely know that 1 year is way too short for any bulb. How long should typical bulbs last? My friend is in northern California, so the weather shouldn't be the cause. Could their be some other causes besides bad luck?

| Fuel System Flush Frank 21:43:36 |
| | Ok y'all,
I have a question: I got my oil changed today (Syntec 5-20) and the technician (at this quick lube place) told me that I needed a "fuel system flush"; apparently, it is recommended every 24K Km (18kmiles). Well, I refused as the own wer book says nothing of such flushes.
He also suggested a engine oil flush.
Are these things really necessary? The owner's manual says nothing of these procedures, so I suspect not.
Your thoughts?
Spec: Acura RSX 2004 Mileage: 29,000 KM (22K miles) Synthethic Oil - Castrol Syntec since 20,000 KM, prior to this mileage, I used semi synthetic oil(weight 5-20) Oil Intervals: 8,000 KM (6000 miles-ish) Live in Ottawa (gets cold up here) - Using severe maintenance schedule followed Easy driving style 25 KM trips in stop and go traffics
Thanks!

| Car vibrates when brakes applied and in gear Hootie 19:04:04 |
| | Hi,
92 Teg. When I come to an intersection and stop, my car vibrates. Vibration seems to be affected if I press my brake down harder and then release it slightly. When in neutral or park, no vibration at all. My idle is around 950 rpm.
First thing that comes to mind is the motor mount, but if it's the motor mount, wouldn't the vibration also happen when in neutral or park?
Any other possibilities?
Thanx for any advice.

| Tachometer bounces up before settling down Hootie 04:46:34 |
| | Hi all,
92 Teg. Recently I've noticed that when I come to a stop, my tachometer would always bounce back up to around 1700 RPM before settling back down to 850 RPM (my IDLE).
Anyone knows what could be causing the tachometer to bounce up before settling down? Could it be a leak in one of the hose?
Thanx in advance.

| 91 Legend Engine Smoking Rick 04:08:19 |
| | My 91 Legend has 174,000 miles and is smoking and I suspect it is worn valve guides (it only smokes on starting and while sitting at a stop light). Several mechanics have said when repairing the valve guides, you also need to repair the bottom end of the engine (or just get a newer engine). The reason given is that when the top part is repaired, it will give more power and then the weakened bottom end might fail also.
I tend to disagree with this but would like some expert opinions. I recently did several full acceleration runs of 0 to 60 and clocked about 8.2 seconds - slightly slower than the original 8.0 seconds. If the bottom end was weak then it would have failed under this full load.
So the main question is: Is it reasonable to just repair the valve guides and leave the rest of the engine alone - is the Legend engine strong enough to just have to repair the top part? I would of course do a leak down test and compression test to validate my theory. Of course, if a complete engine overhaul cost just a few $100s more than just the valve guides, I would do that.
2nd question: Can the valve guide repair be done without removing the heads? On some engines, you can use compressed air to help do the job. My mechanic says he would not know until he removed all the equipment above the heads. Any advice on this would be appreciated. Thanks, RIck

| PROBLEM W/88 ACURA INTEGRA Chappyjr4u 22:12:20 |
| | I have 1988 acura integra that won't start. It has 300,000 miles and probly needs a little work. It worked up until about 3 months ago. One of my friends says it sounds like it's not getting compression. It was borrowed by this guy I know for about 6 months and I told him to replace timing belt and water pump.(back when it ran) The timing belt on it now looks new but could it be off time just enough to let it run for a while and then quit. Please help. It would be a god send.

| Will there be a mid year RL model coming out at the end of summer Broye 13:19:30 |
| | Does anyone know if there will be a mid year (middle of 2006 - a 2006 and a half) model change to the RL (or even the TL)? I must buy a new car this year and would just as soon wait a few months and get the later model that may have minor changes and fixes that are not included in the current year's model. Does Acura or Honda as a rule have mid year model upgrades. Thanks.

| 92 ACURA VIGOR MYSTERY PROBLEM!! Izac49 13:57:34 |
| | Have owned this Vigor for 3 years with great luck relative to any engine problems, etc. Recently, the engine started missing, backfiring, & just running lousy. The mystery is it runs/purrs like a cat upon a cold start & continues to run great until the thermostat opens up; then it starts missing, backfiring, & engine dies then won't start again until it cools down completely???? I replaced the "engine coolant sensor" as I found out this sensor tells the ECU to richen the fuel/air mixture when the engine is cold, then leans it out as it reaches normal operating temp. When this sensor fails; it is locked in the cold engine mode which floods the engine after warm-up. Also changed the plugs and plug wires with no improvement at all!! The problem still exists & my local independant shop mechanic is scratching his head too. No "Check Engine" light is on either? Any help is most appreciated as the closest Acura/Honda dealer is over 100 miles away from where I live.

| '91 Honda Accord made grinding sound but then stopped Guest 04:15:32 |
| | I have a 1991 Honda Accord DX 4-door sedan, and about a week or two ago I started hearing this nasty grinding sound coming from what seemed to be my front driver sound tire. The sound would generally begin when I pressed on the breaks, but then sometimes it would continue on even when the brakes were no longer pressed. It would do this for maybe like 30 seconds and then stop. So that was last week, but I haven't heard that sound in almost a week.
My suspicion is that it is my brake pads wearing down, but here's why i'm confused. Firstly, I had new break pads installed between 1.5 to 2 years ago. Don't they usually last a whole lot longer than that? I'm generally very gently with my cars too. Also, if it were the break pads, why would the grinding continue even when the brakes aren't being pressed, and why did the grinding noise stop almost a week ago?
And here's another unrelated question: When my car is cold (and by cold I mean hasn't been run for quite a few hours), there's a lot of creaking noise when I turn the steering wheel. It usually happens when I turn it to the left, but not always. And once the car warms up a little bit, the sound goes away. Any ideas what this might be and does it sound serious? It's been like this for a while now and my car's been running great, so I haven't been to worried about.
Thanks!
