This one is easy, a 150K mile Toyota. A lot of those old one running around with 200 to 300K on them without a overhaul. ----------------- TheSnoMan.com

| 1986 Jeep pickup Kjbattin 18:07:16 |
| | Hoping that someone will have some info for my son who recently received a vehicle from his grandmother and is trying to fix it up. It has a slight wiring problem... when you try to start the pickup the horn honks. Is it improper to request a wiring schematic for this vehicle? He doesn't have much money to try to get an owners manual or a Chilton's manual, and he is desperately trying to work on it today. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks so much

| 88 S10 Blazer 4.3 stumbles then dies Hotbloodsx3 07:47:55 |
| | Hi does anyone have any suggestions, initially it takes a couple of cranks then it starts & runs fine until idle change, then engine surges then dies. If you try to rev it it bogs then dies. At the lowest point of the surge the timing is retrard quite a bit. No trouble codes from diagnostic and the CHECK ENGINE light isn't on. Sparkplugs & wires okay. Distributor cap, air filter & fuel filter changed not to long ago. I'm going to check fuel pressure next. Any input would be much appreciated!

Ok Here's my story... Bought a 1989 XJ for $700.00 so I expected problems and am not complaining. Day after I got it, the clutch went out. I took it to my friendly firestone shop who put in a new clutch and a new radiator (the old radiator had a broken neck where the hose hooked into it) Ever since then the thing acts like it is starving for fuel. I accelerate and it missed bad. Now when I come to a stop and depress the clutch the engine dies. I took it back to Firestone and they said they did not do anything other than replace the clutch. My fuel pump is very loud by the way. I don't know if that is because of the pump or the fact that there is no carpet or pad in the cargo area. Here's what I have done: New TPS New clutch New radiator tune up (plugs/cap/wires/rotor) replaced the ballast resistor What could it be? Where should I start looking? It seems electrical... it may run fine and then I start up a hill or down a hill (change angle of the vehicle) and it starts right back up again. Like maybe a wire is grounding out. THANKS!!!! in advance You have a fuel filter located on the inside frame rail just in front of the drivers side rear tire. I would do that next.
While looking, the air filter could need attention too. There is a small CCV line that plugs easy which causes the air filter to fast fill with oil and choke out the engine.

Does anyone know if the 97 rims will fit on the 2002?
Both tire sizes are the same and the rims look identical.

Hi,I was having problems with my fuel filter so I changed It.Ran good for about a week, but now it seems it is still not getting any fuel.Toyota dealership said fuel pumps in the old toyota's are pretty reliable. What else could it be?I greatly appreciate any feedback. What kind of trouble with your fuel filter? More accurately, what lead to the conclusion that there was a problem with the fuel filter? Psychic mechanics are rarely worth the money not paid. If your engine truly is not getting enough fuel [and you can prove this] the problems range from a clogged fuel filter [common] to a crudded up fuel tank [not as uncommon as it should be] to a bad fuel pump [where one test is worth a million psychic guesses] to a pinhole leak upstream of the pump to not being the fuel pump but clogged injectors [also too common]. Fuel pressure isn't that hard to check, best to let someone else check the injectors unless you want gasoline under your skin.

| | Until you through in the wrinkle of the power antenna and blower motor, I was going to suggest it was a bad ground at one or both of the headlights. It may still be the case and you have multiple problems, or a bad common ground.

All of the fuse links under the hood look good. The green/white wires to each side marker light are now disconnected because the lights fell off. There in one blue/white wire fuse link disconnected by the battery. Not sure where it goes.

I have been having some issues with a whirring noise in the rear end of my TJ. I assumed that it was the transfer case so I tore that down and opened it up and found no issues. So upon further inspection I spun the rear axle shaft and it spun freely with the wheels on the ground????? I proceeded to tear off the diff cover and noticed that the bolts have sheared off the ring gear. There were several bolts laying in the bottom of the differential case. So my questions are... why would this happen? Can I just replace the ring and pinion and that will be the fix. I was not 4 wheeling or abusing the vehicle, but it does have 120000 miles on it. Any response will be appreciated. Very curious. When you said several bolts where laying in the bottom of case was these sheared bolts or complete ones? If they were complete bolts it would suggest that the ring gear was never properly installed and at some point be it new or later in life and several bolts worked loose and fell out the the remaining bolts sheared off. The nature or condition of the bolts involved would tell more about the story on close inspection and it would show their method of failure. This is a pretty rare occurance. Also, replacing ring and pinion would fix this but given mileage on rear axle I would replace bearings too even if they looked ok. ----------------- TheSnoMan.com

But on its first long trip, oil pressure began to steadily drop to 0.6 bar per 1000 rpm over 12 hours of driving. A minimum of 0,5 bar at idle and worm engine should be sufficient.
Oil pressure mostly corrects itself as soon as engine cools down. Does this mean I should install an oil cooler? It's unnecessary if you used under "normal" condition.

| | I recently replaced the engine in a 95 tahoe with a similar motor, however i cant get the transmission and the engine to line up, its automatic and its so close but there is still a gap (probably 1/4 inch)
The bolts that go from tranny to engine can engage about a 1/4 turn, but i dont want to strip anything, ive tried rasing and lowering the engine and tranny seperatley, but i cant get any more turns.
Is this something that i can solve? can i just tighten the bolts and hope for the best? any help would be greatly appreciated
