reverse lights

 I have a 1995 gmc extended cab with a 5.7 L and a 5 speed manual that I
recently purchased. Great truck but the only thing I can find wrong is
that I have no reverse lights, all the other lights work, and I switched
the bulbs around to verify that wasn't the problem. Also have been through
all the fuses, everything is good. Any ideas???

Find the switch that turns them on when the gear selecter is shifted to
reverse.

Cholk the tires, put the transmission revrse (engine off). With a test
light probe the wires at the sockets. If no power test the switch.If the
switch has power and the lamps do not, you have a broken wire. If no
power from the switch look up information on the neutral safety switch
adjustment.

 Anyone having a problem with reverse lights,
in the last 3 months I have fitted 3 reverse light switches
to 3 different coopers,
I called the dealers for availability, they said they have plenty in stock,
does this suggest that the part is common to failure,
anyone doing a DIY fit,
remove the air filter box and there it is, on top if the gearbox, very easy
DIY,

 Mine was replaced about two years ago. The original one went bad right
after they changed the oil and did other routine maintenance. However, they
did not have any in stock and I had to come back days later to get it
replaced.

Hey guys,

Why arent my reverse lights working?Bulbs are good.It is a 1989 GMC
4x4 half ton.If you think its the neutral safety switch,could you explain
its location, and describe the part. maybe you could tell me how to test
it.I was thinking of just wiring my revers lights to an alluminated switch
on the dash.Any comments?
