Also - when I was in the Marines, during the first Gulf War, the Japanese gave us about 500 Toyota Land Cruisers. White ones. These things did better than H-1s in the desert -- and they were the commercial versions - with all options. I do not remember a single one breaking down or getting stuck. Americans can't build a good off road vehicle without some third party mods. I wish it was different, but that's the truth.
